The newly appointed Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy Rear Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne is a product of the Kalutara Convent. He was admitted I think in 1966.He was at the Convent in theKindergarten Class(Hodiya Panthiya) it was thereafter he was admitted to Grade 1 of the Royal Junior School Colombo 7. The House to which he belonged became champions in 1966 Sports Meet and the Mother Principal feasted all with ice cream.

Its very painful to me stay like this. I just want to live in my school. Jesus I really want to go there back. Can u give that chance for me. Please.......

I for one is impressed by the success stories of Kalutara Vidyalaya I read on the internet. They have an Old Boys Association and they involve old boys in their day to day activities at the school. Kalutara Vidyalaya recently celebrated their 70th Anniversary. Don't just redicule the school for the sake of doing it. Before you redicule others, look at yourself first and judge for yourself, what have you done to make your own school proud. You either ruin the good reputation of your school by mis-behaving or you would bring the name of the school to the attention of the world by behaving yourselves. Think now, while you still in your youth and make the decision before it's too late. Think! How did you show your gratitude towards everything you have achieved during your school days. If I can turn the clock back, I would be eternarlly grateful, for I can re-join the Kalutara Balika, simply to re-live those wonderful years I had and make the most of it, second time round. Don't take your young school days for granted, because we all grow up too soon and you will take with you, not just your education, but all the wonderful memories of your school days. All those wonderful memories I have of my youth, taking part in sports-meet, taking part in so many other activities that involved Kalutara Vidyalaya too. None of were ever punished for unruley behaviour. Times have changed. Sri Lanka suffered a 30 years going through a war, which created more poverty and sadness in the country. No doubt it affected many generations of young children of all nationalities.

I have studied in Kalutara Balika and our sports day was held on the grounds of the Kalutara Vidyalaya. As a child, I loved both schools and I have never met or seen any unruly pupils at Kalutara Vidyalaya. It is sad to see some people condemn the school in such a manner. These schools carry a reputation of high standards. Perhaps the people who redicule the Kalutara Vidyalaya, should read about all the activities they take part in and then judge the school by it's success stories. You must never judge a book by it's cover they say.
